Japan – A Thrilling Destination Worth Discovering

Mt Fuji

Japan is not typically the most popular destination for wildlife lovers from North America, mostly due to the great distance and language barrier, which makes it less accessible. However, nobody regrets visiting it, as it is full of picturesque views, perfect for hiking, camping or just for a walk.
Japan has charming, breathtaking surroundings, such as, its symbol, Mount Fuji and the nearby lakes; Kawaguchiko, Yamanaka, Sai, Motosu and Shoji. Situated only two hours away from the center of Tokyo, it provides tourists with great camping places, authentic and unique cultural experience and offers incomparable and unforgettable memories.

There are many accommodation options big and small. Some people prefer to rent a cottage for themselves and have a more luxurious experience, while others prefer to take their tent and “rough it” in the wild.

You can’t travel to Japan without enjoying the native cuisine. With a variety of local restaurants, you’re bound to eat your way through the small towns.

There are great hiking/walking trails for tourists starting from the town of Kawaguchiko, leading to the mountain and its surroundings. The view is incredible. Old pine forests, accompanied by the combination of clear lakes and sunshine, cover the area densely. It is worth renting a Japanese-style, staying for several days and enjoying the unbelievable atmosphere that nature created in this place. The freshness of the air and the magical view will leave you with memories for life. All of these great facilities co-exist next to the beautiful over 12,000 foot Mt. Fuji.

For those who enjoy water sports, there are also various facilities available where you can rent boats, kayaks, canoes and so on. Swimmers will adore this place in warmer seasons. The water is very clean and fresh. The Japanese people do their best to keep it that way.

If you do not enjoy hiking in smaller groups, especially in an unknown place, you can always get the help of a specialized guide, who will show you the most beautiful places. There are also bus tours available – very convenient for elderly people or young children who cannot simply walk for hours. To get there you can take a Fuji train, either an Express one or a “Shinkansen” - a small, two-wagon, cute, little train.

Spring is just around the corner. Sakura will start blossoming soon. It is the perfect time to plan your trip to the wild Japan.
